A Dance Film Workshop by FIFTH WALL

April 28, 2024 | Dalkia Rehearsal Hall, Samsung Performing Arts Theater

A one-day intensive workshop introducing filmmaking techniques that will help bring out a kinesthetic vibrance to your dance film. Learn the skills to create and adapt performance for the screen: study core methods, watch films, practice with the camera, and make a short dance film by the end of the session.

The workshop will include a lecture about film and dance, the history of, shooting techniques, and analysis led by Dominic Bekaert (Zoopraxi Studio) and Miko Reyes (Saint’s Production), and moderated by dance artist and FIFTH WALL founder and director Madge Reyes.

During the workshop students will be broken into groups. Each student group will be tasked to make a short dance film. Dancers and choreography will be provided. So will a basic shooting kit for each group. Mentors will also guide students in terms of editing.

Students are encouraged to bring a laptop with editing software, if able. Knowledge in editing would help but is not required.

Students may also bring additional shooting equipment should they wish or be able to provide.

This event is part of the International Dance Day Festival presented by Ayala Land and Samsung Performing Arts Theater from April 24 to 28, 2024, and is supported by Aputure Philippines and RSVP Film Studios.
