Directors' Biographies

Jess and Morgs are dance filmmakers whose work has been featured on Channel 4, BBC iPlayer, Canal+ TV, winning numerous awards at film festivals internationally.

From 2017 to 2019, they received the audience award at Barcelona’s Choreoscope film festival for The Last Resort, Curing Albrecht and Tremble. Curing Albrecht has won 7 awards to date including: Best Dance Film at New Renaissance Film Festival (UK) and Best Director at Portland Dance Film Festival (USA).

Their most recent production An Evening with Taglioni is an independent film funded by the Arts Council England in partnership with Channel 4 - Random Acts. Featuring 20 dancers from English National Ballet, the film will be completed in 2020.

Their work explores the choreography of the camera, surrealist imagery, and subverting well known stories — provoking new ways of thinking about traditional art forms while making work that is relevant to new audiences today.

“Jess and Morgs are an original and fresh voice in dance film. Their work is accessible and innovative, and should be supported.” - Jan Younghusband, Commissioning Editor BBC Music and Events
